Growing into soul

UNIVERSE WITHIN by Gwen Randall-Young

We are an evolving species, and one can easily recognize the physical changes that have occurred since humans began to walk this Earth. Changes in our abilities, and how we think are equally evident. One only needs to observe a six year old who is adept at using the computer to observe the dizzying rate at which humans adapt to technology, and how technology changes our thinking.
We are on the threshold of another evolutionary shift, one that is critical to our survival both as individuals, and as a species.
In my new book, Growing Into Soul: The Next Step in Human Evolution, I explain what this shift entails, and how we can consciously choose to step up to the next level. Following are excerpts from the book with more to come in the new year.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Almost 30 years ago Jonas Salk wrote a book called Survival of the Wisest, in which he argued that in order for the human species to survive and thrive in the second half of its growth curve, there would have to be a shift in values and perspectives. Wisdom would overtake physical strength as the primary predictor of evolutionary endurance, for both the individual and the species. This would mark a major evolutionary shift.
That shift has begun, and its tremors will touch us all. Findings of quantum physics suggest a cosmic intelligence at the core of the universe: the substrate from which all else manifests. Through human consciousness, the universe can reflect upon itself for the first time. Each individual has access to pure perception or insight, but, according to physicist David Bohm, our low level of ego development deflects that insight.
What is required to access this insight, or wisdom, is the ability to transcend our own egos. Only then may we tap into, and become expressions of that underlying order which exists everywhere, including within our own DNA.
Cosmic intelligence is the energy that pulsates through the outer regions of the universe, and the inner reaches of individual consciousness. Its human expression is soul.
The goal of this quest is no longer simply esoteric “enlightenment.” Modern science demonstrates the impact of our thoughts on every level of physical and mental health. Simply put, ego-based thoughts and behaviours are ultimately detrimental. The negative effects extend to physical health, interpersonal relationships and consequently, individual and collective well being.
Science is revealing startling evidence of the effects of a more soul-based perspective at the level of cells, bio-chemicals and electrical impulses within the body. Thoughts and behaviours aligned with soul contribute positively to health and happiness; consequently, they are “pro-evolutionary.”
Growing Into Soul: The Next Step in Human Evolution is a guide to navigating this evolutionary transition. There has recently been a great shift towards an awareness of the collective consciousness; millions are seeking to appease their spiritual hunger and connect with soul.
While many are becoming increasingly familiar with these spiritual ideas on a conceptual level, they still struggle to integrate them into “real life,” applying them consistently in day-to-day living. Making the shift is difficult.
As David Bohm says, the collectivity does not yet have “the energy to reach the whole, to put it all on fire.” The purpose of this book is to ignite within every reader the energy and intelligence to make this evolutionary shift.
